Our Theme

- To Paint the Beauty Just As We See -

Our exhibition expresses our commitment to the creation of beauty seen through human eyes, a long-ignored stance in the modern era. In other words, the beauty is not something we "make" but something we "discover". We learn from masterpieces of all ages and countries such as pictures of the Italian Renaissance, the French impressionism, and the Japanese ukiyo-e (woodblock prints and paintings) and create our own works based on our philosophy that "life" itself that every single being has is the supreme beauty.

Exhibition Contents

This exhibitioln displays approximately 80 artworks of oil paintings, watercolor paintings, and sculptures produced under the theme of "the beauty seen through human eyes" by more than 30 artists.
Because we created the paintings outdoors in nature and pictures of live models such as people, flowers, and fruits in front of them, you will feel the living atmosphere where they existed.
In addition, the difference in motifs such as scenery, portraits, and still life among us is one of the highlights, too.
We are happy if you can feel "friendly eyes on life" of each writer.

Profile

This year is the 41th year since our group was established by student volunteers in Hachioji and other suburban areas in 1977 in order to create the art to learn from the beauty of world arts and advocate the diginity of life. So far, we have held two exhibitions a year (a spring exhibition in Hachioji in May and a main exhibition in Yaesu in December).
We changed the previous name "Hachioji-group Exhibition" to "Sunlotus Exhibition".
